The seedling tsunami
It’s that time of year again when there’s not enough space - in the greenhouse, in the cold frame or round the raised beds - because there are *so many* seedlings. Babies at various stages of development that have either been grown from seed and potted on, or arrived unexpectedly through the post in their flimsy cardboard carriers having been ordered online on some dark January night.
Inevitably, I have too many to take proper care of. A couple of busy days pass and I go out to find some have dried out, or become waterlogged, or been eaten by slugs. I start the season diligently labelling everything and then at some point it goes to pot and I forget what’s what. Welcome to late April/May: a time of chaos, and abundance, and overwhelm, and hope.
