I’m a freelance writer and mum of two based in Royal Leamington Spa.

I’m originally from the West Highlands in Scotland where my love of wildflowers and gardening first took root. After graduating with an Honours MA in English Language and Literature, I began a career in restaurant marketing and from there moved into copywriting; first freelance, then for a full-service agency, where I worked for many years on a wide variety of accounts.

After starting a family I decided to embark on the RHS Level 2 Certificate. Partly for fun, but also because we’d bought a new house with a big garden that we wanted to transform into something amazing, and I thought a solid grounding in garden design and plant selection might help. Since then, I’ve developed a portfolio of garden photography, much of it charting the development of the garden, and co-founded a natural wine bar here in Leamington.

Now the garden’s in its third year, evolving as gardens do, and I’m using it to grow year-round cut flowers for our bar. And in a pleasingly circular fashion, I fund my expensive plant and magazine habit by photographing and writing about plants for magazines.
