Making kokedamas

I’ve been making little hanging moss balls in the style of Japanese kokedamas - probably not properly, but it’s been fun way to play with plants when there’s not much else happening in the garden.

I managed to get some sheets of moss online which keep pretty well - if they start to dry out I just dunk them in water. And these, wrapped around the root balls of various plants and tied with twine or wire, make kokedamas. So far I’ve experimented with narcissus, ivy, scillas, violas, snowdrops and muscari, and they’re all currently dangling from the bare branches of the staghorn sumach in a slightly sinister style. I think the scillas are my fave - they are unbelievably blue. Must get more of them next year to go in the lawn.
